POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

Position Descriptions

President

1 Position for 2nd Year MSHE (C13)

The President shall preside at all meetings of the organization. The President shall be the official spokesperson of the organization, representing the policies, views and opinions of the organization in its relations with the campus and community at large. The President has further powers and duties as prescribed by the organization. This position promotes consideration of equity issues that may arise throughout the year. This position works with the organization officers, CSUF faculty, staff, and facilitate discussions in the domain of social justice and advocacy.

Vice President

1 Position for 2nd Year MSHE (C13)

The Vice President presides at the organization meetings in the absence of the President. The Vice President works collectively with the President and performs all duties necessary to support the President and HELO members. The Vice President will also serve as the College of Education Inter Club Council representative. This position promotes consideration of equity issues that may arise throughout the year. This position works with the organization officers, CSUF faculty, staff, and facilitates discussions in the domain of social justice and advocacy.

Treasurer

1 Position for 2nd Year MSHE (C13)

The Treasurer will handle all financial affairs for the organization. Treasurer will maintain the organization's Agency Accounts. The Treasurer will be responsible for collecting membership dues and depositing into the Agency Account. Treasurer will access the Agency Account to use funds for expenses. The Treasurer will be in charge of soliciting funding from EICC for events. Treasurer will coordinate fundraising activities with e-board members. The Treasurer will keep e-board members informed about the organization’s financial activities. Treasurer will promote consideration of equity issues that may arise throughout the year. The Treasurer will collaborate with the organization’s members, faculty, and staff to advance dialogue in the domain of social justice and advocacy.

Professional Development Coordinators

1 Position for 2nd Year MSHE (C13) + 1 Position for 1st Year MSHE (C14)

The Professional Development (PD) Coordinators plans professional development events such as seminars, guest speakers, workshops, and conference preparation, as well as any other programs requested by HELO or MSHE faculty. This position is also responsible for giving an E-portfolio workshop to first-year students during their first semester. The PD Coordinators are also responsible for developing and sending monthly newsletters. This position promotes consideration of equity issues that may arise throughout the year. This position works with the organization officers, CSUF faculty, staff, and facilitate discussions in the domain of social justice and advocacy. The faculty advisor can authorize this position to be filled by two or more individuals as Co-Coordinators.

Social Justice Coordinators

1 Position for 2nd Year MSHE (C13) + 1 Position for 1st Year MSHE (C14)

The Social Justice (SJ) Coordinators promotes consideration of equity issues that may arise throughout the year. The SJ Coordinators works with the organization officers, CSUF faculty, staff, administration, and community partners to plan at least one of the following per semester: seminars, guest speaker sessions, and/or facilitation of discussions in the domain of social justice and advocacy. The faculty advisor can authorize this position to be filled by two or more individuals as Co-Coordinators.

Public Relations & Outreach Coordinators

2 Positions for 2nd Year MSHE (C13) + 2 Positions for 1st Year MSHE (C14)

Public Relations & Outreach (PR&O) Coordinators create and maintain a favorable public image for the organization through online platforms, including social media and the website. This position designs marketing materials to shape public perception of their organization and increase awareness of its work and goals. The PR&O Coordinators assist the Professional Development Coordinators with content for the monthly newsletters and promotion. This position promotes consideration of equity issues, social justice, and advocacy throughout the year, in addition to building and keeping connections amongst HELO officers, members, and CSUF stakeholders.

Mentorship Coordinator

1 Position for 2nd Year MSHE (C13)

The Mentorship Coordinator ensures that MSHE first year students are getting the best possible help by pairing them with the appropriate mentor. They also track the progress of all mentorships to ensure that the mentoring experience is mutually beneficial to both mentors and mentees. The Mentorship Coordinator should plan events including mentor/mentee reveal during the fall semester and other mentorship socials throughout the year. This position promotes consideration of equity issues that may arise throughout the year. This position works with the organization officers, CSUF faculty, staff, and facilitate discussions in the domain of social justice and advocacy.

Secretary

1 Position for 1st Year MSHE (C14)

The Secretary takes minutes at all meetings of the organization, files minutes, and submits required copies to all organization members and the faculty advisor. The Secretary is responsible for all organization correspondence and keeps copies of all correspondence on file. This person acts as historian and maintains all records of the organization. This person also works to update the organization. This position promotes consideration of equity issues that may arise throughout the year. This position works with the organization officers, CSUF faculty, staff, and facilitate discussions in the domain of social justice and advocacy.

Program Events Coordinators

3 Positions for 1st Year MSHE (C14)

The Program Events Coordinators (PECs) plan program events such as holiday mixers, fundraisers, socials, and end of year celebrations (ex. Winter HELO-Bration and Rites of Passage) as well as any other programs requested by HELO, students, or the MSHE faculty advisor. This position works with the organization officers, CSUF faculty, and staff to organize and facilitate events in the domains of social justice, advocacy, and equity. This position can have up to three Co-Coordinators.
